What is microfinance?

Microfinance is a "relatively" new means by which to help those living in poverty. Instead of donating money, food, medicine, or clothing, microfinance is a system of lending that empowers the poor to help themselves, for example, by giving them a chance to start their own microbusiness. Some believe that microfinance will change the face of global poverty assistance; our study group will explore more what microfinance is about.
